Tips to Make More Money During Evenings and Weekends

If you work full time or have commitments in the day then you may feel that there is nothing you can do to make money. However, you have evenings and weekends available where you may be able to earn some. You may think that this is a waste of time, but there are actually a lot of options that you could consider.

Conventional evening or weekend work

You may be able to pick up some evening or weekend work. Many businesses employ people for these days. You may be able to do shifts at a supermarket or shop, for example. You may also be able to do a twilight shift in an office in the evenings. You may also be able to pick up work in restaurants or bars which are open during these hours or perhaps in a factory which is open for 24 hours. A lot of businesses do have shifts at these times and so it could be easy to find a job like this as long as you can find something that you feel you would be happy doing.

Setting up a business

One way to earn some money and choose your own hours is to set up a business. It can seem like a great way to be able to do what you want. However, it is worth noting that running a business is hard work. When you first set up you will have to put in a lot of hours and you will be unlikely to get any return for your efforts. It may be that only being able to commit evenings and weekends may not be enough as many new business owners have to commit these as well as the day time too. Even once you are established you will still have to work hard as you may be the only person doing the work or you may not be earning enough to be able to afford to pay anyone else. Many new businesses do not succeed so you will need to think hard about what you will need to do to make sure that you will not follow them.

Freelance work

You may be able to pick up some freelance work. This could be in anything that you are experienced in. You can find freelance jobs on some websites, which means that you can do so easily. You will be free to take on only the amount of work that you want to do and charge what you want. This can be flexible which can therefore fit well into evenings and weekends. However, you may be limited in how much work you can actually find. This will probably depend on what field you are freelancing in.

Temping work

A temping agency might have some work that you could do. You may find that they will be able to find you something in the evenings or the weekends as they will have a variety of things available. They are very unlikely to have any work from home jobs though. It obviously depends on the sort of work that you are looking for as to whether they will have something that will suit you. Try a selection of local temping agencies as some may specialise in the sorts of jobs that have evening and weekend shifts and some may not.

Online work

There are plenty of jobs that you can find online. However, you will have to look really hard to find something that pays a really decent amount. It is worth looking though as there will be some options available. It can be worth doing lower paid online jobs because it will bring in some income at a time when you may not be able to do other work. It may be that you want or need to be working form home and so this sort of job will be more likely to be a work form home job than others.

Monetise your hobby

If you have a hobby that you are good at then you may be able to find a way to make money out of that. You might be able to teach other people how to do it or sell things that you make. It will depend on the hobby but there are opportunities to make money out of many things as long as you are able to find a gap in the market. It can be fun doing this as you can do something that you enjoy and make money at the same time.

So, you can see that there are potentially a lot of opportunities available. You will have to think about what you might like to do and then investigate the possibilities. Hopefully you will be able to find something that will suit you and generate some extra income to help you to manage each month, top up your savings or pay off your loans.

How to Make Your Car Cheaper to Run

Most of us drive a car and we will be very aware of how expensive they can be to run. They can take up a large proportion of our income making paying for other things such as rent, loan repayments or even food difficult, but there are things that you can do to keep the costs down. You may feel that you have tried most things, but it is worth having a look through the list and thinking about what you do and whether there are any changes that you can make.

Find cheaper insurance

Car insurance can be a really large part of our total car expenses. However, many people will stick to the same insurer and not think about looking to see if they are paying more than necessary. Although you do need to make sure you have the cover that you need, you should still compare prices each time your insurance is due for renewal to make sure that you are not paying more than necessary. You may find that you could save a significant amount if you change to a different insurer. If you pay monthly on a long-term basis, rather renewing yearly, make sure that you regular compare prices of different insurers to make sure that you are not paying more than necessary.

Car insurance is also often dearer if you pay it monthly. You normally need to pay it in a lump sum if you want to get it at a cheaper price. It can be best to save a bit each month so that you can afford to pay it in a lump sum when the renewal is due and then you will end up paying less.

Find cheaper fuel

Fuel is also something which costs a lot of money and it seems like it is always going up as well. It is wise to take a look and make sure that the place you are buying your fuel from is a good price. Sometimes it can be too easy to leave the fuel until it almost out and then go to the nearest petrol station. It is better to plan a bit more and fill up before you run out at a lower priced petrol station. Obviously, you will need to make sure you are not driving so far to get fuel that you are using up the money you have saved by burning fuel to get there.

Get cheaper services

Cars need servicing every so often and it can be tempting to just go to the dealer for this. However, if you go to an independent garage it is likely to be cheaper. The parts will be cheaper and the labour and so you can make significant savings this way. You may even be able to do some of the work yourself and save even more money. The same applies when you buy new tyres as going to a dealer will be expensive but you may be able to find independent businesses who will be able to provide you with cheaper tyres and a cheaper service which will save you money.

Drive efficiently and as little as possible

There are ways that you can drive efficiently which will help your fuel to go further. By not accelerating fast and driving at a consistent speed then you will lose less fuel. Also getting rid of unnecessary weight in your car can help you to need less fuel as well. It can be worth also thinking about whether driving is always necessary. It may be that you can walk somewhere instead and save the fuel. This may also save you money in car parking as well.

Buy a more efficient car

When you buy a new car it can be worth trying to get one that is efficient. This will mean that you will not spend so much in fuel. It can also be worth considering the cost of parts and whether they are easy to get hold of. If you need a repair, it will cost you less if the parts are cheaper and easier to find. Also consider that if you get a smaller car then it will be cheaper to insure. Certain models will also be cheaper to insure than others so it is worth finding out about this as well.

So, there are a lot of things that you might be able to do in order to make your car cheaper to run. It may even be worth thinking about whether you should reduce the amount of cars in your household. If you have two or three cars, then reducing them will make a significant difference. You will have less tax and insurance as well as reducing the costs of servicing, MOT and fuel. Even if you only have one car, it is possible that you will be able to try various things to save money.
